The author of this book was very adamant on avoiding existing stereotypes within the genre of sports literature for young girls. We wanted to create something with a lot of energy and movement, that also featured recognisable faces from the stories. The main challenge in this project was incorporating the characters into the composition while maintaining a sense of harmony and a path for the eye to follow.
Having attended many football games during my hospo days, I came up with the idea of the night pitch, wanting to capture the buzzing atmosphere of the game and the dramatic shadows moving across the grass.
